Wet feet and wet towels: floors for the back of the house
Being close to the beach means wet towels, swimmers and sandy feet coming through the back door. Choose floors for the rooms they’ll actually face:
- Laundries and powder rooms: hybrid and 5mm vinyl plank suit these rooms well.
- Bathrooms with a shower or bath: vinyl plank or hybrid can be laid, but we don’t recommend it, because water can get through the joins and edges to the subfloor. Those rooms are best tiled, and we don’t lay tiles.
- Living areas: hybrid, or engineered timber with a brushed finish. A mat at the back door saves a lot of wear.
- Bedrooms: solution-dyed nylon carpet, which resists fading in sunny rooms.

Can I see the samples in my own light?
Yes. The mobile showroom brings the samples to your home, so you can see them in the morning and afternoon light of your own rooms.
What’s the difference between hybrid and vinyl plank?
Hybrid has a rigid core that bridges small dips in the floor better, and its underlay is attached. 5mm vinyl plank is slimmer and needs a very flat floor, but suits rooms with tight door clearances. Both are $28/m² to install.
