Sand is the hidden enemy of floors close to the beach. It’s tracked in on shoes and acts like sandpaper on soft surfaces.
- Hard floors at the entry and in the living areas make sand easy to sweep up. Hybrid’s wear layer is designed to resist scratching; engineered timber is best with a brushed or matt finish that hides small marks.
- Carpet in the bedrooms stays cleaner when there’s a hard floor between it and the front door.
- Good mats at every door make a big difference to any floor.

Is hybrid waterproof?
The planks resist water, which makes hybrid a good choice for kitchens, laundries and entries. The installed floor isn’t a waterproof barrier, though: water can get through the joins and edges to the subfloor, so wipe up spills and wet footprints.
Do you do apartments?
Yes. Apartment and body corporate jobs in homes have a 10% charge on the installed price, and some buildings have rules about noise between floors, so bring those to the measure.
What carpet colour works best near the beach?
Mid-tone neutrals and flecked or heathered colours hide sand and everyday dirt better than very light or very dark plain colours.
