Tremont Carpet & Flooring

Flooring for homes in Tremont

Tremont is a small hamlet in the higher Dandenong Ranges, just below One Tree Hill and immediately east of Ferny Creek. It’s about 25 km by road from our Huntingdale showroom. Much of it is national park, including the original fern gully that drew day-trippers from the 1870s, and its name is said to mean “mountain of trees”. There are only a few homes, and we’re happy to come to every one of them.

Surrounded by forest, many owners want floors that feel connected to the view outside.

Colours that suit a bush setting

  • Australian species such as spotted gum and blackbutt (about $130/m²) bring the warm browns and strong grain of the local bush inside.
  • Natural and smoked oak (from $89/m²) gives a softer, even tone that sits well with timber walls and big windows.
  • Carpet in earthy tones such as olive, stone and warm grey links the bedrooms to the colours outside and hides tracked-in dirt.
  • Mid-tones are the most practical in the hills: they hide leaf litter, dust and paw prints better than very pale or very dark floors.

Frequently asked questions

Do you travel to homes this far into the hills?

Yes. Tremont is within our service area, and the mobile showroom brings the samples to your home.

Can a hybrid floor have a warm timber look?

Yes. Hybrid comes in a range of timber looks and tones, so you can find one that suits the setting if you’d prefer a floor that’s easier to look after than real timber.

Will sunlight fade a timber floor?

Real timber changes colour slowly in strong sun, as all natural materials do. Curtains or blinds on the sunniest windows slow it down.

Why CarpetAce

We’re not like other flooring stores. In many stores the person who measures and quotes never lays a floor, and the job is handed to an installer on a work order. Tony Chalhoub, a carpet installer for more than 20 years, founded CarpetAce in 2010 so that every job is measured and quoted by people who know how to install it.

We’re family-owned, with more than 40 years in flooring, and rated 5.0 from more than 300 Google reviews.
