Flooring for Fairfield homes
Fairfield sits between Northcote, Alphington and the Yarra, with the Station Street shops and Fairfield Park and its boathouse on the river, about 21 km by road from our Huntingdale showroom. Californian bungalows and Edwardian houses line its streets.
If you prefer natural materials, wool and timber both fit the brief.
Natural materials: wool and timber
- Wool carpet is a natural, renewable fibre. It’s resilient, naturally resists soiling and is slow to ignite. Mid-range wool and wool blends are $68.30/m²; for pure wool, check the label, because blends include a synthetic fibre.
- Engineered timber puts a real timber surface on a stable core, using less hardwood than solid boards. Oak starts from $89/m².
- Finishes: a matt or oiled timber finish keeps the natural look of the grain.

How a job runs
It starts with a phone call or an enquiry. We arrange a time for the free measure, Monday to Saturday between 7am and 7pm, and bring the mobile showroom so you can compare samples in your own light. Your written quote is emailed within 24 hours of the measure. When you’re ready, our installation team lays the floor, and we can take up the old one and move the furniture first.
Quoted by people who install
In many flooring stores, the person who measures your home never lays a floor, and the installer turns up with a work order that doesn’t tell the whole story. CarpetAce was set up to close that gap. Tony Chalhoub has been a carpet installer for more than 20 years and founded the business in 2010. Today we’re a family-owned team with more than 40 years in flooring, rated 5.0 from more than 300 Google reviews.
Questions about flooring in Fairfield
Is wool carpet worth it?
Mid-range wool costs the same as triexta and high-end solution-dyed nylon ($68.30/m²), and it’s warm, resilient and natural. Solution-dyed nylon is tougher against stains, so it depends on the room.
Does wool carpet attract moths?
Wool can attract carpet beetles and moths, especially in dark, undisturbed spots. Regular vacuuming, including under furniture, is the best prevention.
Do you lay timber in Californian bungalows?
Yes. Engineered timber can float over sound original boards or replace them in a renovation; we check the subfloor at the measure.
