Black Rock Carpet & Flooring

Flooring for Black Rock homes

Black Rock sits on the bay between Sandringham and Beaumaris, around Half Moon Bay and the village shops on Bluff Road, about 15 km by road from our Huntingdale showroom. Mid-century beach houses share its streets with large contemporary homes designed to make the most of the light and the water views.

We also cover Black Rock North.

Sunny rooms and big windows

Big glass doors and windows bring in the light, but strong sun also changes floors over time. Plan for it when you choose:

  • Solution-dyed nylon carpet has the colour right through the fibre, so it resists fading in sunny rooms. Mid-range is $43.50/m² and high-end $68.30/m².
  • Timber mellows in the sun. Engineered oak and Australian species change colour gradually with light, so move rugs and furniture now and then to keep the colour even.
  • Window coverings such as sheer curtains or blinds cut the strongest afternoon sun and protect any floor.

Frequently asked questions

Is engineered timber real wood?

Yes. Engineered boards have a real timber top layer on a stable core, so they look and feel like solid timber and cope better with changes in temperature and humidity. We supply Terra Mater and Greenwoods.

Can you lay timber on a concrete slab?

Yes. On a slab, engineered timber can be floated on underlay or glued straight down, and we also lay solid timber over concrete. We check the slab at the measure.

What sheen should a timber floor have?

A matt or low-sheen finish hides fine scratches and footprints better than a glossy one, which suits busy family homes. We’ll show you the finishes on the samples.
