About this range

Escape Velour is Supertuft's smooth-finish carpet: a dense cut pile in New Zealand wool that feels soft and plush underfoot and gives a room a tailored, formal look. It is made in Melbourne by Supertuft, a family business that has been producing wool carpet since 1980. The standard version weighs 50 oz per square yard before shearing, with a pile of about 8 mm, and comes on 3.66 m rolls. Supertuft grades it for extra heavy residential use with stairs included, so one carpet can run from a formal lounge up the staircase and into the main bedroom. Its palette, shared with Escape Twist, is the widest Supertuft offers: 29 colours across neutrals, blues, reds and greens. Like any velour, it can show shading where the pile changes direction, which is worth knowing before you choose. Supertuft lists a 5-year guarantee (conditions apply). We'll bring the swatches to your home so you can see them in your own light.

Questions

Escape Velour FAQs

Is Escape Velour suitable for stairs?

Yes. Supertuft grades the 50 oz Escape Velour for extra heavy residential use, and that grading covers stairs. We look at your staircase when we measure and allow for it in the written quote.

Will Escape Velour show shading?

It can. Supertuft notes that its velour and twist styles may develop shading, also called watermarking or pile reversal, where patches look lighter or darker because the pile lies in a different direction. Supertuft doesn't treat this as a defect, so if it would bother you, a loop such as Escape Loop is worth a look.

What guarantee does Escape Velour have?

As listed by the manufacturer: a 5-year guarantee. Conditions apply, including installation to the Australian standard by a qualified installer, correct care, and use in the settings Supertuft recommends.
