Mornington Carpet & Flooring

Carpet and flooring in Mornington

Mornington sits on Port Phillip Bay in the Mornington Peninsula Shire, about 44 km by road from our Huntingdale showroom. Known as Schnapper Point until 1864, it grew around its pier and, from 1889, the railway, with a busy Main Street, Mornington Park and Bentons Square. Its homes range from Beleura (1863) and 1950s and 60s Modernist houses near the Esplanade to post-war estates spreading south towards Mount Martha.

In a renovation, the floors often go in while other trades are still finishing, and they need protecting.

Protecting new floors from other trades

  • Carpet last: where possible, carpet goes in after painting and other trades, so it isn’t marked.
  • Cover hard floors: if trades are still working, your builder should cover new hybrid or timber with a protective sheet or board, taped to itself rather than the floor.
  • Watch the grit: boots carry grit that scratches; mats at the doors help.
  • Heavy equipment: ladders, trolleys and tool boxes can dent a floor, so they should stay on the protection.
  • Plan the order with us: tell us your builder’s schedule and we’ll fit our work into it.
