Carpet and flooring in Eumemmerring
Eumemmerring is a small residential suburb between Doveton, Dandenong and Hallam, about 20 km by road from our Huntingdale showroom. It was part of Doveton until 1981, and its homes grew up alongside the post-war factories of Dandenong, with a linear park and sports grounds along Eumemmerring Creek.
If you haven’t had new floors laid before, it helps to know what happens on the day.
What happens on installation day
- Before we arrive: clear small items, ornaments and anything fragile, and empty drawers and wardrobes in the rooms being done.
- Furniture: we can move it for $8/m² of floor.
- The old floor: old carpet and underlay come up and are taken away, for about $8/m².
- The new floor: for carpet, gripper strips and new underlay go down first, then the carpet is stretched and fitted. Hard floors are laid on the prepared subfloor.
- Doors: if the new floor is thicker than the old one, some doors may need trimming; that’s picked up and quoted at the measure.

Frequently asked questions
What is a gripper strip?
A thin timber strip with angled pins, fixed around the edge of the room. It holds the carpet tight once it’s stretched, which is why stretched carpet stays flat.
Why is carpet stretched?
Stretching takes out the slack so the carpet lies flat and stays that way. Carpet that wasn’t stretched properly is what develops ripples later.
Can you lay laminate in a bedroom?
Yes. Laminate (about $40/m²) suits dry rooms like bedrooms and studies, and installation is $28/m² including underlay.

How a job runs
It starts with a phone call or an enquiry. We arrange a time for the free measure, Monday to Saturday between 7am and 7pm, and bring the mobile showroom so you can compare samples in your own light. Your written quote is emailed within 24 hours of the measure. When you’re ready, our installation team lays the floor, and we can take up the old one and move the furniture first.
