Carpet and flooring in Doveton
Doveton was built from the mid-1950s, when the Housing Commission developed the area to house workers at the new International Harvester, General Motors-Holden and Heinz factories near Dandenong. It’s about 15 km by road from our Huntingdale showroom, and many of its original brick and weatherboard homes have since been renovated or rebuilt.

If you’d rather spread the work out, a little planning keeps the result looking like one job:
- Start with the hardest-working rooms. Living areas, the kitchen and the hallway usually wear out first.
- Keep later stages over 20 m². Jobs under 20 m² have a $450 small-job charge, so grouping two bedrooms together often works out better.
- Choose a range that will still be around. Colours and ranges change over time, so if you plan to finish later, ask at the measure which ranges are long-running, or buy enough for the whole house now.
- One measure for the lot. We can measure and quote every room now, so you know the full cost before you decide what to do first.

Frequently asked questions
Will a second stage match the first?
If it’s the same range and colour, it should be very close, but dye lots can vary slightly between batches of carpet. Where rooms meet at a doorway, a small difference is rarely noticeable.
Can you remove old carpet in one room and leave the rest?
Yes. We take up and dispose of old carpet only where the new floor is going, for about $8/m².
Should the hallway be done with the living room?
It’s usually a good idea. The hallway links the rooms, so laying it at the same time avoids a visible change at the doorway and keeps the job over 20 m².
