Carpet and flooring in Selby
Selby is a semi-rural hills township about 2 km east of Belgrave, named after local landowner George Selby when its station opened on the narrow-gauge line now run by Puffing Billy. It’s about 30 km by road from our Huntingdale showroom. Its homes sit among mountain ash and tree ferns on hilly land, with the Black Hill reserve on its eastern side.

What to check when you compare quotes
- The product: the exact range, and for carpet its fibre and weight, not just the colour name.
- Underlay: is it included, and what thickness? We use 10mm underlay from Airstep, Underlay King or Airlay.
- The old floor: is taking up and disposing of it included? Ours is about $8/m² for carpet.
- Furniture: who moves it, and at what cost? Ours is $8/m².
- Edges and stairs for hard floors, and any small-job or apartment charges.
- Carpet quantity: is it based on how the rolls will actually be laid, with the joins planned?
- GST: our prices always include it.

Frequently asked questions
Why can two quotes for the same room differ so much?
Usually because they include different things: underlay, removal, furniture moving, or a different carpet quantity. Comparing line by line shows the real difference.
Does a measure cost anything?
No. The measure is free, and your written quote is emailed within 24 hours.
Do you lay floors in homes with steep access?
Yes. Access is part of the measure, and we plan how materials reach the house.
How it works
- Call or send an enquiry. We work Monday to Saturday, 7am to 7pm.
- We bring the samples. The mobile showroom comes to your home with carpet, timber and hybrid samples, and we measure every room.
- Written quote in 24 hours. Your quote is emailed within 24 hours of the measure.
- We install. Our team lays the floor and can take the old one away.
