- Chimney breasts and hearths: carpet is fitted up to the hearth, and timber or hybrid is trimmed around it with a neat edge.
- Alcoves beside the fireplace are measured as part of the room, so the carpet runs right into them.
- Pile direction: every piece in a room is laid with the pile running the same way, so the colour looks even.

Yes. A pattern has to line up across every cut and join, so patterned carpet installation is quoted at the measure.
Should the front rooms and hallway match?
In a terrace, one carpet through the hallway and front rooms usually looks best, and a different floor in a rear extension marks the change from old to new.
Do you protect original features during the job?
Yes. We work carefully around marble hearths, joinery and plaster, and we can remove and refit skirting for hard floors rather than adding beading.
