Karingal Carpet & Flooring

Carpet and flooring in Karingal

Karingal is the residential area about 3 km east of central Frankston, built as an A.V. Jennings estate from 1962 to the mid-1970s, with about 3,000 homes along curving streets planned around Ballam Park and its historic Liardet homestead. It’s about 31 km by road from our Huntingdale showroom, with Karingal Hub, opened in 1978, as its shopping centre.

“Stain-resistant” is printed on plenty of carpet labels, so it’s worth knowing what it means.

What stain-resistant really means

  • Resistant, not proof: a stain-resistant carpet slows a spill from soaking in, which gives you time to deal with it. It doesn’t make carpet immune to stains.
  • Solution-dyed nylon has its colour right through each fibre, so it resists fading and many stains.
  • Triexta has stain resistance built into the fibre itself.
  • Wool naturally resists soiling, but some spills need attention quickly.
  • What still matters: blot spills straight away, don’t rub, and remember that bleach and some chemicals can mark any carpet.

Compare fibres in solution-dyed nylon vs triexta.

Karingal flooring questions

Which carpet is best for red wine and coffee?

Solution-dyed nylon and triexta handle most food and drink spills well if you blot them quickly. A mid-tone colour also helps.

Does stain resistance wear off?

In solution-dyed fibres, the colour is part of the fibre, so it doesn’t wear off. Regular vacuuming keeps grit from dulling the surface.

Do you lay floors in 1960s and 70s homes?

Yes. We take up old carpet and underlay for about $8/m², check the boards, and lay carpet, hybrid or timber.
