Warehouse conversions: floors over concrete
Converted warehouses usually have concrete floors, sometimes old and uneven. New flooring over concrete works well with the right preparation:
- Preparation first: old slabs may need levelling before a hard floor goes down. We check the floor and quote any preparation at the measure.
- Glued or floating: engineered timber can be glued straight to the slab ($35/m² plus $15/m² adhesive) for a solid feel, or floated on underlay ($28/m² plus $6/m²).
- Hybrid floats on its attached underlay, which also softens sound in a hard-walled space.
- Carpet goes down on gripper strips and underlay, and warms up a big concrete room.

Questions about flooring in Collingwood
Is hybrid noisy in an apartment with concrete floors?
Its attached underlay reduces footstep noise compared with a plank laid straight on the slab. If your building has an acoustic requirement, the 9.7mm Resiplank has the highest rating of our hybrids (6 Star).
Do you lay floors in Victorian cottages too?
