Flooring for Middle Park homes
Middle Park sits between Albert Park Lake and the beach, with the Armstrong Street shops at its heart, about 16 km by road from our Huntingdale showroom. Its wide streets are lined with Victorian and Edwardian terraces and villas.
In homes like these, the colour of a timber floor shapes the whole interior.
Choosing a timber tone for a period home
Engineered oak and Australian species come in a wide range of tones, and the right one depends on the house as much as on taste:
- Natural and light oak brightens narrow terraces and rooms with one window, and sits well with white or pale walls.
- Mid-brown tones echo the original Baltic pine and hardwood floors of Victorian homes, and hide dust and paw prints better than very light or very dark boards.
- Australian species such as blackbutt and spotted gum bring warmer colour and stronger grain, at about $130/m².
Compare tones in a photo of your own room with See it in your room, then see the boards in your own light at the measure.

Middle Park flooring questions
Will a light timber floor show dirt?
Very light and very dark boards both show dust and marks more than mid-tones. A light floor with a visible grain or a brushed texture is more forgiving than a plain, pale one.
Do you install in heritage homes?
Yes. Floating floors and carpet don’t change the structure of the house, and we can remove and refit the original skirting rather than adding beading. If your home is under a heritage overlay, check with the council about any works beyond the floor itself.
Can I compare several colours?
Yes. The mobile showroom brings a range of colours to compare at home, and we can bring more once you’ve narrowed it down.
