Carpet and flooring in Heidelberg Heights
Heidelberg Heights lies east of Heidelberg West in the City of Banyule, with the Repatriation Hospital along Banksia Street on its southern edge and the Darebin Creek Trail close by. It’s about 23 km by road from our Huntingdale showroom. Housing spread onto this flatter land north-west of old Heidelberg after the Second World War, and older homes now sit beside new houses and townhouses.
If you’re replacing carpet, triexta is a fibre worth knowing about.
What is triexta carpet?
- A member of the polyester family, chosen for its soft feel and built-in stain resistance. Part of its content comes from plants rather than oil.
- Where it suits: bedrooms, family rooms and rumpus rooms, where softness and spills matter most.
- Where nylon may be better: solution-dyed nylon is the most resilient synthetic fibre, so it’s the tougher choice for hallways, stairs and sunny rooms.
- Price: triexta is about $68.30/m², the same as high-end solution-dyed nylon and mid-range wool.

Heidelberg Heights flooring questions
Is triexta the same as ordinary polyester?
It belongs to the polyester family, but it’s a different fibre, valued for its softness and the stain resistance built into the fibre itself.
Which is better for a hallway, triexta or nylon?
Solution-dyed nylon. Hallways take the heaviest traffic, and nylon springs back best. Many homes use nylon in the hallway and triexta in the bedrooms.
Can I feel triexta, nylon and wool side by side?
Yes. The mobile showroom brings all three to your home, so you can compare them on your own floor.
