About this range

Airlay's commercial underlays are made for carpet in offices, shops and other shared spaces where the floor sees steady foot traffic. There are three. Airlay 5 and Airlay 7 are dual-bond underlays at 5mm and 7mm, and Airlay Tuff is a 7mm underlay on a wider roll. All three are listed at a density of 120kg. Dual bond refers to a glue-down installation in which the underlay is bonded to the subfloor and the carpet is then bonded to the underlay, a method widely used in commercial fit-outs. Airlay 5 and 7 come on 13m x 1.4m rolls (18.2m²), and Airlay Tuff on 10m x 1.8m rolls. As with the residential grades, the foam is listed as containing 90% post-industrial recycled content. The right choice depends on the carpet, the traffic and how the space is used, and we'll name the underlay in your written quote. We can bring samples to your site and schedule the installation around your trading hours.

Questions

Commercial Underlay FAQs

Should I choose Airlay 5 or Airlay 7?

Both are 120kg dual-bond underlays; Airlay 5 is 5mm and Airlay 7 is 7mm. The right one depends on the carpet, the traffic and the layout, and we'll recommend one in your written quote.

What does dual bond mean?

It's a glue-down method: the underlay is bonded to the subfloor and the carpet is bonded to the underlay. We confirm the installation method for your carpet when we measure.

Is Airlay Tuff a dual-bond underlay?

Airlay doesn't describe it that way in its listing. It's a 7mm, 120kg underlay on a wider 1.8m roll, and we'll confirm the right installation method for your carpet when we measure.
